[HI MATE CLIMATE] aims to raise the profile of the issues surrounding climate change. Environmental matters from energy consumption to overuse of natural resources are major concerns of our time and for our future.
We are constantly discussing through the media an increasing worldwide debate surrounding the growing threat of pollution affecting our everyday lives.
My House Projects has invited artists from around the midlands to create new work in response to climate change in the UK.
Statistics show that in the UK of the 80% of UK greenhouse gas emissions 14% are caused by road transport and another 14% by domestic and business fuel1. As global temperatures change global-average sea level could rise by between 7 and 36cm by the 2050’s. Depending on the scenario this could have a life changing and dramatic effect on the UK’s rivers and coast lines2.
In response to this, Artists with a wide-range of disciplines are invited to create new ways of interpreting their relationships with their environment through the language of visual art. The dialogues created will identify the need for individuals to make a concerted effort to think of the growing ‘disposable culture’ and long term consequences on environment.
